NEW in AddWeb 6.0 (from 4.0):
The next step in the evolution of the
world's most advanced web promotion software is here.
New Features:
Upgrade Information:
New to Submission
- New Primary Engine Flags. Major search engines save results
to your hard drive.. This gives you the added comfort of
seeing the actual page returned by the engine during submission
if you desire.
- Smarter Search Engine Database. The new search engine
database is separated by category, allowing you to only
install and update categories you desire. This feature has
been added by popular demand. Those of you that don't want
the FFA sites don't even need them in your AddWeb installation.
- New statistics available for engines and profiles by double-clicking
in sub window. Now you can get important statistics relating
to search engines during a submission run by double-clicking
the entry in the engine window.
- Faster, more responsive engine selection. The new selection
tree for search engines is now easier and faster to use.
New to Ranking
- More engines. The
new rank design accommodates more engines than ever,
allowing us to continually add more and more engines.
- Quick Rank Reports are now available. Previously you were
only able to generate reports off of profile ranking runs.
Now you may also generate reports with quick rank.
- New categories in Quick Rank. You can now more easily
select the engines you wish to use in the Quick rank feature.
- Profile Ranking Engines now broken down by category, allowing
you to easily select all engines by region.
- Ranking now offers a Favorites list option, allowing you
to individually select the engines you prefer only once.
- The new ranking logic offers more robust error checking,
allowing it to sense more easily if a script is out of date.
When the system senses this, it will no longer have a negative
impact on your trend reports.
New to Page Builder
- Multi-Page Edit - Page Builder now allows multiple pages
to be edited with a single click. You may now write META
tags and other Page Builder code across full directories
in your site.
- New Spell Checker. Page Builder will now check spelling
in your key meta tags where possible.
- New doorway page templates. For those of you using Page
Builder to create Doorway Pages, we now offer a wider selection
of default page styles.
New to Page Advisor
- A new, more robust rating system is being implemented
that will grade pages on a curve, allowing new factors to
be considered for ratings.
- Additional elements in page design are now a part of the
rating process, including more intelligent handling of multi-word
keywords.
- LinkTrader usage will now be factored into the grading
process, allowing for better scoring on Linktrader accounts.
LinkTrader (New Major Feature)
LinkTrader is a system that allows you to trade links with
other AddWeb users, creating reciprocal link pages designed
to promote websites, as well as build link popularity, which
tends to increase your rank on some major search engines.
The Link Trader system allows you to browse other websites
in the system by category and country, and then decide if
you would like to exchange links on your link pages. When
you find a site you wish to trade with, you simply click a
link to request the trade, and AddWeb forwards a trade request
to the other webmaster. The next time the webmaster loads
AddWeb, they are presented with your trade request. If they
believe it would be a good trade, they accept it, and your
link is stored in their 'active trades'. A click of a button
will generate all of the HTML for your link page, and you
simply place it on your website.
Each time you run AddWeb, you will have the option to 'Verify
Trades', instructing AddWeb to check the reciprocal link pages
of your trading partners, making sure they are, in fact, linking
to you. If there is a problem, AddWeb gives you several options
for action. You may wish to send a warning message to the
trading partner, or simply cancel the trade. AddWeb does so
much of the work for you, that it is a breeze.
- LinkTrader now allows you to multi-select trading partners
for verify..
- Added Batch Verification, allowing you to check all partner
links with one click.
- Extended verification checking to include checks to make
sure that the trading partner has proper link text, and
a true, clickable link to your site.
- Added Batch warning to verification
- You can now maintain notes on your trading partners from
the trade verification for future reference.
- LInkTrader will now store and display the last result
of each certification for your partners.
New to Reporting
- New variables have been added to reports, allowing you
to store multiple reports by date.
- You may now edit the colors of ranking report charts.
- We have added 3 new report themes.
- Report templates are now part of the new AddWeb Instant
Update system, allowing for new features to be integrated
into reporting automatically.
New to Scheduler
- Scheduler can now run schedules on reporting.
Pay Engine Support
In the past few years, some important search engines have
stopped allowing free submissions to their databases. As a
result, many of our valued customers have requested that we
implement support for 'Pay Engines' into AddWeb. We have created
a separate section in AddWeb specifically for this purpose.
Unlike the Free Submissions section, paid submission is not
automatic, as we felt you would like manual control over your
money. Instead, the pay engine section provides an embedded
web browser with links to many of the more popular pay sites,
allowing you to pick and choose more carefully.
Wizards
We have made AddWeb 5 easier to use than ever with the introduction
of Wizards for key features.
Rank & Submit
This new feature allows you to cause AddWeb to automatically
skip submission to any search engine supported by the ranking
feature, if your site is already found within the ranking
on that engine.
Interface
Those of you that are running Windows XP have certainly noticed
that while AddWeb 4 works with Windows XP, it does not have
the XP look with all of the new control styles. This has been
addressed in AddWeb 6 with a full Interface overhaul. Still,
we were very careful not to change the basic layout, so AddWeb
remains familiar to you.
For those that are not running Windows XP, you will see that
we have departed from our traditional 'high-tech stereo console'
theme in favor of a more light and friendly theme.
Internal Search
The search feature has been enhanced with an internal web
browser. Now when you do a search, instead of launching an
external browser window, the search is performed and displayed
within the AddWeb interface.
CSV Reports
AddWeb not only boasts great new report styles, but also
includes the ability to generate key reports in CSV (Comma
separated value) format. This allows you to import reports
into popular applications like Microsoft Access and Excel.
(Platinum and Pro Versions)
SiteStats Live Enhanced
SiteStats Live now offers printer friendly report formats,
a more friendly design, and the ability to view reports from
the web.
4.x Backward compatibility
Our more seasoned customers know that with each major AddWeb
release, we have traditionally made major format changes to
our data structure, causing backward compatibility issues,
which has caused headaches for those with custom engines and
large profile databases.
Another full year of data updates
Every upgrade to AddWeb 6 includes a one year search engine
database subscription.
and more!
- Major overhaul to the Instant Update system, allowing
it to sense potential installation problems, do intelligent
updates on each engine database, and much more.
- New look and feel.
- Many small enhancements found throughout the program.
- Easy backup of database files
- New auto-hiding of complicated statistics panels and more.
- and much more
What does the upgrade cost?
All customers that purchased AddWeb during its Extended
Period will be entitled to a 'like' edition upgrade for
free as long as you claim it before April 1st, 2003. The Extended

if you purchased AddWeb 5.0 Platinum on October 10th, 2002,
you will be entitled to a free upgrade to AddWeb 6.0 Platinum
as long as you claim it before April 1st, 2003.
Customers having purchased before the extended
period will be entitled to special upgrade offers, which
will vary based on edition, time purchased, and product code
under which you purchased. For customers upgrading from version
5, the upgrade price will be no more than the following:
- 5 Deluxe to 6 Deluxe: $35.99
- 5 Deluxe to 6 Platinum: $ 114.99
- 5 Deluxe to 6 Pro: $264.99
- 5 Platinum to 6 Platinum: $74.99
- 5 Platinum to 6 Pro: $224.99
- 5 Pro to 6 Pro: $149.99
Customers upgrading from versions 3 and 4 have slightly higher
upgrade pricing.
Why should I upgrade?
Most types of software only change in terms of new features.
If the features a version has satisfies you, you may not see
any need in upgrading. AddWeb, on the other hand, is a dynamic
software application. The effectiveness of the software is
directly related to the nature of external forces (search
engines, for example). This means that if the software is
left unchanged, it will naturally lose its effectiveness over
time because so much changes on the internet. A good example
of this is Virus Scanners. As new viruses are discovered,
virus scanning software must be enhanced to accommodate new
kinds of threats. After a few years, the viruses are more
intelligent than the older virus scanners. The same holds
true for AddWeb. As search engines explore new technology,
and things change on the Internet, AddWeb must be enhanced.
The older versions become obsolete very quickly. In fact,
most of the changes that happen from one version to the next
are 'under the hood' changes that you won't notice. Our submission
engine gets more and more intelligent, as do the supporting
features.
When we release a new major version of the software, the
older version soon goes into 'Phase
Out' status. That is, we prepare to make a final build
of that version. This is done because we cannot maintain multiple
code bases for older versions of the product. It simply gets
harder and harder to work around older technology. When a
version is phased
out, we no longer maintain the integrity of the submission
engine, the ranking engine, and other supporting features.
In other words, that version will work for as long as things
don't change. This is a necessary process in the evolution
of this type of software.
In addition to new features and a better engine, an upgrade
renews your database update subscription for a full year.
Depending on when you purchased AddWeb, your database update
subscription may be close to expiry.
Finally, our technical support offerings change when a product
enters the phase
out stage of life.
What if I don't upgrade?
This depends on the version you currently have licensed.
If you have a valid license for version 5,
the following changes will take place:
- No new features will be added to version 5, however, any
bugs discovered will be addressed until a final build is
released.
- Engine database updates will be provided on a regular
schedule until the phase
out period begins, at which time they will be less frequent
until the product
end of life occurs. *Engine database updates will
be provided as long as your update subscription is current.
- All technical support channels will remain active until
the phase out
period begins. After phase
out, only online technical support channels will be
available. When a product reaches end
of life, technical support is no longer available.
If you have a valid license for version 4,
the following changes will take place:
- On January 1st 2003, version 4 will reach its end
of life. Version 4 will no longer be supported, and
it will no longer be on our database update schedule.
If you have a valid license for version 3, 2 or 1:
- These versions are all past their end of life. They are
no longer supported, and are no longer on our database update
schedule.
